Northern Lights Secondary School offers an immersive school experience. Through immersing the pupils completely in their lessons, we provide deeper involvement. The pupils' attention is better retained by forming an active connection with not only the course material itself, but also with the teachers and other pupils. Social development is more strongly stimulated in a setting in which pupils can immerse themselves in different roles, and are encouraged to experiment with social skills they have appropriated to a greater or lesser extent.

Immersion offers a better retention of the curriculum, both on short term but even more so on the long term. Different researches have already proven that on short term, in a school system like this similar test results can be achieved in tests organised shortly after presenting the course material - but on the long term, this immersive system shows higher scores. Specific data can be found among other sources in the 2014 Wyrd Con Companion Book, starting from p. 132.

This system of teaching has been tested already in multiple schools, both full time and periodically, and it works. I believe I can successfully import this originally Scandinavian system to Belgium.

International projects

Teachers and other immersion-minded mentors are welcome in our last grade (last two years) and add to our curriculum.
